Jewelry appraisals are necessary for a number of reasons including obtaining insurance, estate planning, estate taxes following a death, equitable distribution for divorce, collateral loans, charitable donations and confirmation of value and quality at the time of a purchase. An appraisal can be written for a single item such as an engagement ring or numerous items, An appraisal can consolidate numerous items of various vintages and values into one report.
Thirty years experience in the jewelry industry including retail sales, estate jewelry buying and selling, and jewelry manufacturing have given me broad experience and understanding of every aspect of jewelry valuation.

Examination of jewelry is in your presence. You do not leave any jewelry with me unless you choose to do so. Appraisals are by appointment to insure confidentiality. Jewelry can also be examined in your home or at a bank safety deposit box.
Fees are not based on value. Fees are based on the nature of the item to be appraised and can vary. Jewelry appraisals are based on time required to examine and research each item.

The completed appraisal will be mailed to you and/or your representative. The typed appraisal will include two copies which contain a complete item description, the appropriate value and a photograph which is keyed to the appraisal description.
Instruments used are standard for a well equipped appraisal gem laboratory. Most Items can be analyzed in my office. However, the proliferation of gem treatments in today's market may require additional testing at advanced laboratories.
